Finally, we’re getting to the bigger conventions now. TsunaCon is considered to be the part of the Dutch Big Three anime conventions, but there’s something interesting about the Big Three. While this is the shortest convention during only one day from 11:00 to 23:00, it is also considered the most popular of all three, which is quite surprising. You’d expect AnimeCon or AbunaiCon to be at least more successful since they last over the weekends. However, AnimeCon has lately been labelled as quite the elitist convention with high prices and unneeded high culture, so to say. On the opposite, AbunaiCon has been switching locations here and there, and now it’s in a position where people kind of get lost in the venue. I personally prefer AbunaiCon since it’s close and I can volunteer for the weekend, but let’s talk about TsunaCon right now.

[Convention] We Love Japan 2015
Happy Valentine’s Day! Or at least, those are the words uttered on the day I went to this convention in Rotterdam, fittingly called We Love Japan. I actually should speak of an event rather than a convention, since this time the location is even smaller than the previously mentioned church in Arnhem. I’m not sure how to call this place, it seems more like the plaza of an international youth hostel. In any case, I decided to go here since I bought a ticket at the aforementioned convention for again, 5 euros. I think we’re on to something here with cheap and small business. However, is it really something enjoyable? I’m afraid this is going to be a short post.
[Convention] GamepitCon 2015
This week, there are three posts awaiting to be published. And all of them are anime conventions too! The first one we’re going to take a look at is GamepitCon 2015. This event was held on the 3rd of January, hosted by none other than Gamepit. From what I’ve heard, it’s the first edition, and it comes with something Japan can’t pull of that easily; it’s an anime convention held inside a church! It does come with its drawbacks though… Because it’s a church. Read more to see why.

Hey there, here’s a quick update on what’s going on right now. I’m slightly busy right now due to most of my university courses being FAT courses. You can take that abbreviation quite literally; FAT means that instead of having 14 classes in the course of 14 weeks, the amount of weeks will be halved, meaning I will have 2 classes every week for 7 weeks. So consider me being quite focussed on university at the moment. I will still try to post at least one thing per week to keep you guys up-to-date, nevertheless. So here’s what’s going on over the course of February.
Abunaicon 2013
The official name for this convention is actually Abunai, but I prefer keeping the name suffixed with “convention” somehow. It’s one of the Big Three Dutch conventions, as I like to call them. The largest one is AnimeCon (the ever-so-standard name for an anime convention, really), but it’s really pricey and takes place when you usually have your final exams before the summer break… then again, it does have the best dealer room and events. Followed just before the summer break ends is Abunai, which I’ll be talking about in this post. And the final one is also the shortest one lasting for only one day, called TsunaCon (I remember this being some kind of portmanteau of Tsunami and Tuna).
