[Convention] GamepitCon 2015

DSCN9570This week, there are three posts awaiting to be published. And all of them are anime conventions too! The first one we’re going to take a look at is GamepitCon 2015. This event was held on the 3rd of January, hosted by none other than Gamepit. From what I’ve heard, it’s the first edition, and it comes with something Japan can’t pull of that easily; it’s an anime convention held inside a church! It does come with its drawbacks though… Because it’s a church. Read more to see why.

[Post-Mortem] My opinion on LocJAM & Grandpa

GrandpaYou can find my localised version [here].

One week. One game. Grandpa, an interactive story about Emi and her Grandfather trying to find his hat. A Global Game Jam entry, that has to be translated from English to one of the designated languages, including Japanese. As amateurish as I am, I decided to take up the job to localise this game, despite neither of the two languages being my mother tongue. As described in the disclaimer, the translation of this game only took me a day, yet refining it to a piece that can be commercially published is a whole different matter. In this article, I’d like to talk a bit about my experienced related to this event.

Participate in the LocJAM2

Hey there, here’s a quick update on what’s going on right now. I’m slightly busy right now due to most of my university courses being FAT courses. You can take that abbreviation quite literally; FAT means that instead of having 14 classes in the course of 14 weeks, the amount of weeks will be halved, meaning I will have 2 classes every week for 7 weeks. So consider me being quite focussed on university at the moment. I will still try to post at least one thing per week to keep you guys up-to-date, nevertheless. So here’s what’s going on over the course of February.

Last Chance for Get Yourself Speedrunning 2015 and MT6

Hey guys, a small heads up here for an event that’s currently going on, called Get Yourself Speedrunning! Some of you may know that I’m a fan of speedruns, and SpeedRunsLive decided to hold an event right after Awesome Games Done Quick 2015 (which is an awesome speedrunning marathon hosted for charity), so that people interested in speedrunning have a chance to participate in such a race themselves. Of course, I’m already somewhat familiar with speedrunning since I used to join in blind races where you try to finish the game as fast as possible with no knowledge of the game whatsoever. And I’ve also done some Pokemon runs. And something called the Mystery Tournament, but I’ll talk more about that further ahead in my update.

5 Centimeters Per Second [Dual-Audio 1080p v2].mkv_snapshot_00.28.29_[2014.11.18_03.46.56]So, I think it’s been a whole year since I last posted something worth of notice. It’s been a heck of an emotional ride before I finally got to writing this post. In short, I decided to take a mental break after some personal circumstances. I stalled blogging my diary entries about my life in Japan since it became too much time consuming, a common problem of procrastination. Alas, I couldn’t find the time during my summer break since I had to write my final report and participated in two exchange programs. If people are interested, I could write about those in detail to wrap up the good things that happened during the latter part of the exchange.
